BeeLee Lee

— BeeLee acknowledges that she is an uninvited guest on the stolen, unceded, ancestral, traditional homelands of the Səl̓ílwətaʔ, Xʷməθkwəy̓əm, & Sḵwx̱wú7mesh peoples. Raised in East Vancouver, growing up not far from the DTES, she currently calls the DTES her home and has for over a decade. BeeLee is the proud Mother of two adult daughters, Jasmine and Skyla. She is also Nana to two Grandsons, Jaden and Logan. 

BeeLee has been part of the #StopTheSweeps Coalition and has supported Pivot’s work through social media, press releases, and her own grassroots work and advocacy. BeeLee is also motivated to shine a light on police injustices such as excessive force and brutality as well as passionate about changing current drug policy. BeeLee has been an Executive Board Member of the Coalition of Peers Dismantling the Drug War for 2½ years and is currently in her 2nd term as Vice President.

Earlier on in her life, BeeLee spent six years working in healthcare, as a Laboratory Technician for LifeLabs. This is where her workplace activism began as a shop steward and sat on the local executive. BeeLee also spent six years organizing non-union workers as a Staff Representative for the BCGEU. Currently, she works for a harm reduction site in the DTES operated by RainCity Housing. BeeLee uses her lived experiences with drug use and mental health to navigate her current role and is proud to be enrolled in a Safe Supply program for almost four years. This has led to more stability and most importantly has kept her alive. 

You may find BeeLee with her best friend Sadie, a seven-year-old Lab Husky Cross, walking through the DTES or at their favourite place, CRAB Park.
