— Stephanie is a first generation Canadian, of Guyanese and Trinidadian descent. She is originally from Toronto (Haudenosaunee, Mississauga and Anishinabewaki Territory) and currently lives in Victoria (Lekwungen/Songhees and W̱SÁNEĆ Territory).

Stephanie has a BA in Gender Studies from the University of Toronto, and a graduate diploma in Art Therapy. She has spent over a decade working frontline with marginalized populations, in both a counselling and outreach capacity. Her work included experience in maximum security prisons, detox centres and homeless shelters. Stephanie’s focus has been on the unhoused community, both in Toronto and Victoria.

Stephanie is currently the Program Coordinator at Uni 101, a free non-credit course at the University of Victoria for marginalized people who have faced significant barriers to education. 

Stephanie is also completing an MA in Justice Studies at Royal Roads University. Her focus is on the the importance of bringing a politicized, social justice informed lens to therapy in order to best serve vulnerable and marginalized populations. 

Outside of work and school, Stephanie is and has always been a tireless advocate and activist in the community with a specific focus on social justice and human rights. Stephanie is excited to join the Pivot board and to contribute to an organization that fights tirelessly for the communities she is dedicated to serving.
